Bands and Tapes

MagicGuanto® utilizes a range of arm, leg, sleeve and waist bands and tapes depending on the clothing line and type. Direct digital printing (DDP) is the most advanced method to apply silicone to fabrics, and we use this process on all leg bands of our bib-shorts, and on the sleeve cuffs of select jerseys. The more popular silicone microfibre grippers can be found on MagicGuanto® arm, leg and knee warmers, and on the waist hem of our jackets, jerseys and vests. Simple elastic bands or tapes are used on the sleeve cuffs of the MagicGuanto® GTS™ jersey. And when aerodynamics are in play we rely on self-gripping properties of the fabric and laser cut the sleeves; MagicGuanto® also raw cuts the leg bands and sleeve cuffs of our top-range kits. All bands and tapes used by MagicGuanto® are 100% Made in Italy.

Whether it was Shakespeare or Twain who coined the phrase Clothes Make the Man, MagicGuanto® Makes the Rider™ and the fabrics make the kit. MagicGuanto® currently uses 25 fabrics in the production of our custom cycling clothing and regular collections. In the construction of our skin and speedsuits, for example, we use nearly 10 fabric types. Less is more, in fact, and the desired functionality of the fabric, whether we are saving our riders and teams ounces in the mountains or seconds in the time trial, determines which fabric MagicGuanto® uses and where. All fabrics used in the production of MagicGuanto® custom cycling and regular collections is 100% Made in Italy.

Pads

Taking a queue from the UCI WorldTour teams, MagicGuanto® turns to two Italian pad manufacturers who are the finest in their field: 1) Dr Pad®; and, 2) Elastic Interface®, a CyTech brand. We have come a long way from the chamois of yesterday, and cutting, skiving, gel injection, sublimation printing and thermo-forming or molding are some of the technologies used today in creating the world’s most advanced cycling pads. The pads of choice by MagicGuanto® for our bib-shorts, bib-tights, skinsuits and speedsuits are the DOC 40 Team and Endurance by Dr Pad® and Elastic Interface®, respectively. All cycling pads used by MagicGuanto® are 100% Made in Italy.

MagicGuanto® utilizes two main stitching types: 1) Flatlock; and, 2) Overlock. In addition to its decorative qualities when using contrasting thread colors for visual effect, flatlock stitching results in a comfortable, flat seam that is found on the highest-quality cycle clothing. Flatlock stitching is achieved by buttressing two edges of cut fabric, then joining them flat on the inner and outer side using a single-layer of interlocked thread. Overlock stitching, on the other hand, is the process of folding or rolling two edges of cut fabric together, then binding them with multi-threads. All threads used in the production of MagicGuanto® custom and regular collection cycling kit are 100% Made in Italy.

ZIPPERS

From the bands and tapes, fabrics, threads and pads, to the printers, inks, printing, cutting, sewing machines and sewing, MagicGuanto® remains 100% Made in Italy. Zippers are our only departure, however, and of the two leading zipper manufacturers for performance cycling apparel, Opti® and YKK®, MagicGuanto® utilizes both. Opti® zippers are made in Germany, and YKK® are made in Japan. Opti® and YKK® zippers can be found on MagicGuanto® custom cycling and regular collection jackets, jerseys, shoe covers, skinsuits, speedsuits and vests, and depending on the garment we use box cover, camlock, hidden and open-end technologies.
